New Paint Brightens Coos County Fair Grounds

Bicycle wreck injures boy in Moyday incident
Steven Price son of Mr and Mrs Douglas Price of 238A Street Myrtle Point sustained a broken leg and facial injuries when the bicycle he rode lost control on Spruce Street hill Moyday. He was admitted to Matt Kospia after treatment at the Coquille clinic.

Services Held for Lewis at Myrtle Point
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Carl Arby Lewis 18 son of Mr and Mrs Fred Lewis. He was killed Thursday in a logging accident near Coquille while working as a choker setter for Ingram Brothers Logging Co. Burial at Sunset Memorial Park Coos Bay followed at MPHS graduate from Myrtle Point High School where he belonged to Lettermen's Club wrestling team and Future Farmers of America. He is survived by his parents grandfather Frank Irish Ontario Cal sister Judy Gilfillan Portland brothers Dan Ft Lewis and Marshall Myrtle Point.

Bridge Replaced By Mrs Jack Jenkins In Southern Coos County
Gune, the last covered railroad bridge between Myrtle Point and Powers, was torn down last week and replaced by a steel structure. The 1913 bridge built by Willet and Burk Contractors deteriorated after 10 years due to not being covered. The new steel bridge supports heavier locomotives and restores a vital Coos County link once used by passenger trains to Powers and Eden Ridge Lumber Camp 3. Ownership changed from Smith Powers Company to Coos Bay Lumber Co in 1938 and Georgia Pacific in 1956, which retains it now.
