Cecil L C Brown of Sunnyvale California recalled childhood years in Myrtle Point where his parents Rev W R F Browne and Mrs Browne lived as he visited in youth. The Browne family served as Methodist ministers in Myrtle Point in 1908 and Goquille in 1908. Mrs Browne is now 80 years old and resides with her son.
Georgia Pacific Cool May division announces its annual rail tour from Myrtle Point to Powers on July 24 to 35. Interested parties should reserve by writing Alan Rhay at P O Box 360 Powers or call for reservations between July 18 and July 28.
Fieyd LaFariette received Lion of the Year honors at a Myrtle Point Lions Club gathering last Wednesday. The award cited LaFariette’s service to the club and its city park tennis courts project. Mank Rowell began a new presidency at the meeting. The club planned a County Fair dance and food booth projects and discussed the fence at the tennis courts.
