Moses Endicott 96 veteran miner and prospector in this area died Thursday morning at the Myrtle Point Rest Home where he had spent the last years Born in Missouri March 14 1860 he came to this community 66 years ago Services were held at 2 pm Saturday in the Schroeder Bras chapel with Rev Edward Mc Clurg of the Methodist church officiating Interment was in the Myrtle Point cemetery He is survived by sons Aug den of Powers and Palmer Coos Bay a daughter Mrs Joe Dunham Portland sisters Mrs Emily Miller Myrtle Point and Mrs Clara Scott Mrs Jennie Hampton both of Jamesport Mo Mrs Laura Johnson Napa Calif one brother Jacob of Eugene and 10 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A joint meeting of the Coos Co Chamber of Commerce Road Committee and the Southern Douglas Co Road Association in Camas Valley drew 35 delegates. Representatives from Myrtle Point and other towns discussed Highway 42 planning, surveys from Gold Beach to Brookings, and state support to fix bad spots and remove brush. A second August supper meeting is planned at Barts Cafe Camas Valley.

Mr and Mrs V A Roush have purchased the Spruce and Fourth Street building housing Roush Parts and Service and the Safeway Store from Perry C Roper Sr. The deal includes the Roper home and four Border Street lots. Bill Roush gains the residence and two lots while the Seniors keep the other two. The Roushes moved to Myrtle Point eighteen years ago and took over the Parts and Service in 1950. The Pearce built the building about 30 years ago.
Voters approved the 1956 57 budget in a special election on Tuesday July 3 with 37 yes and 15 no The measure authorizes a tax levy above the 6 percent limit totaling 9847 86 for general city operations during the 1956 57 fiscal year Election board members were Mrs Henry Hermann Mrs Cora Steele Mrs Lloyd Jarvis Mrs W L Bell and Mrs T G Sumerlin Dr and Mrs Reed Gurney and family rode the Gold Beach to Agness mail boat last Sunday.
Oregon Liquor Control Commission distributes 14.486 million dollars in the past year to the general fund cities counties and state census fund from liquor revenue license fees and taxes on beer and wine. The general fund received 12.649 million from available liquor revenue and 40 percent of license fees. Cities and counties shared 80 percent of license fees and a portion of privilege tax revenue.
The Inter church Fellowship of Myrtle Point sponsors a two week Vacation Bible School from July 23 to August 3 with the theme Adventuring With Christ in The King's Adventureland. Rev Leon Miller supervises with sessions 9 to 11:30 AM and departments led by church leaders. The program includes learning art music and church leaders praise and ends with a Friday August 8 closing program at the Christian church and supports Heifer Project.
Homemakers from Coos Curry and Douglas counties gather at Camp McKinley on August 24 for a noon district IX Southern Oregon picnic luncheon. Attendees bring a meat dish salad or dessert with a small registration fee, during the larger Homemakers camp August 22 to 26 featuring jewelry making card making and craft demonstrations.

May figures: production 181,005,000 board feet, 97.9 percent. orders 171,631,000. shipments 186,089,000. Six months 1956 totals: production 4,683,126,000, with six months 1955 at 5,085,470,000. Ten youths aged between 15 and 20 were arrested by Myrtle Point police for illegal beer possession over a week long period from June 30 to July 7. In court before Municipal Judge Moore the youngest was sent to juvenile court, two paid fines of 29.50 and 39.00, and two twenty year olds received deferred sentences.
