The Coos County War Finance committee offers appreciation and thanks for the support received. The text conveys gratitude for actions taken and acknowledges the collective effort during the war funding drive.
Several thousand visitors joined the July 3 and 4 festivities at Ile with street parades, a horse show, dancing at the Community Building, and events at Ashietie tests. About 18 horses entered the parades daily and hundreds participated in show activities. Myrtle Point Riding Club reportedly led with many horses and riders. The promoting committee and Community hall fund raised a substantial amount from the event.
The Union Service Station at 4th and Spruce in Myrtle Point reopened under Ray Short from Coos Bay, after months of closure and redecorating. It operates as a general services station and a pickup point for passenger and truck tire recapping, with George Weat of Coos Bay visiting to announce the reopening in a full page Herald ad.
Elmer Knight of North Bend who has managed Ion OH company for eight months realigns on July 15 to run a service station and grocery 10 miles north of Vancouver Washington. Douglas Hayes of Portland will succeed Knight as manager. Knight, formerly of Myrtle Point, has 15 years with the company and lives with Mrs. Knight and two daughters on Simpson Heights in North Bend.
Misa Myrtle Fals pater of Home Lighting warns that bulb voltage must match home service voltage. If mismatched, bulbs may burn out early or produce too little light, leading to penalties.

From San Francisco the Misses Louise and Bonnie James spent a short home visit with Mr. and Mrs. Ben James their parents. They left last Friday for San Francisco and will travel to Eureka to visit another sister. They attend the Good Tidings Bible School.
Mrs Nell Rey remains confined to her home for the week while seeking to keep active. Neighbors report she is mingling with friends within the house and managing daily tasks.
