An overage airman, discharged at Camp Lewis Washington, plans to reach Tokyo by joining the merchant marine. He had been stationed at Beewell Mexico air base and travels with his two sons Forest and Canyon to visit his parents Mr. and Mrs. K. A. Baston in Ashland.
Vernon Rankin of Myrtle Point Oregon has graduated as one of the three most proficient pilots in Marana Army Air Field Arizona cadet class. He will train ten weeks at Pampa Texas before becoming an Army air forces pilot the 1934 Buckeye Union High School graduate. Rankin is married with two children and lives at Myrtle Point Oregon.
