A flood of mine filings dominates this week’s court house notices. Names include Babrel Loney for Water Dug, Vance for Granite Mining Claim, J A Stankovich for Gold Bar, J G Leuthold for a same named claim, and Alice C Horton for the Alice Claim. Also listed are James W Ceamwell, O W Morris, George Smith, Hal Baxter, and many others filing or defending mining claims and licenses. The report notes license grants, probate actions for Robert Shine, guardianships, and several custody or property-related petitions, alongside local land transfers and land-acre valuations in Coos County. Automobile Co. Announces Change in Myrtle Point Operations

Niles Motor company in Myrtle Point announces a revised plan for its local operation. Ernest Watkins and Harold Whitsett say the service station at Fourth and Spruce remains a display and sales HQ with the Pearce Garage handling Ford parts. Titus Cook and son Vivian Cook will run the leased service station duties with Harold Whitsett assisting as needed.

Misa Lila Strong became the bride of Edward Decker of Broadbent on Saturday morning. The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs L L Strong of Gaylord and a Myrtle Point High school graduate. Decker, longtime Broadbent resident, previously worked for the highway department. The couple plan to reside in Powers once their house is ready.

Sitkum Man Injured by Crosscut Saw Incident

Rollie Alford of Brewster Valley slipped while fleeing a falling tomb last Thursday and fell on a crosscut saw. The injury penetrated his left hand and he was treated at Mast hospital before making a second trip to Myrtle Point on Saturday for further medical care.

Myrtle Point Pioneer Celebrates 82nd Birthday Party

About 43 friends gathered at the Cement Creek home of Wm Chandler to honor his 82nd birthday. Chandler came from Missouri in 1873 and settled in Myrtle Point, where he hauled logs with an ox team and remains active in haying and horseback riding while receiving well wishes from Coos County neighbors.

Bay Hospital Receives Coos Bay Bridge Worker

Frank Young, a Myrtle Point firefighter on the Coos Bay bridge, was admitted to a bay hospital last Thursday with an infected left hand. A steel sliver pierced his third finger weeks earlier and swelling worsened, prompting hospital care. John Rissberger and family aided in the visit and return trip.

City Council Advances Ordinance and Street Projects

The city council adopted an ordinance approving sewer and street improvement plans. Mayor Kring and six council members presided as they discussed applying for BERA funds to fix Fourth Street holes and culvert work. A wedding occurred Sunday morning at the home of Mr and Mrs Knight of West He Point. Elder Charles H Farklow officiated as Nelson and Kroeger exchanged vows by a window amid baskets of junoes and sweetpeas. Library Report From Morary Board Monthly Meeting

The Morary board met Monday afternoon to review the June library report. Highlights include 796 general books loaned, 213 children's titles, new applicant cards filed, $220 paid from the pay shelf, and $2.57 collected in overdue fines. Ongoing SEHA work shows 88 books received, with several recased and mended.

Tuesday Cavalcade Advertises Rodeo

A gala parade of over 30 cars traveled from Spruce street in Myrtle Point to Coquille Marshfield and North Bend on Tuesday afternoon. The Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce sponsored the Fourth of July Round-up in Myrtle Point, running Thursday through Saturday. City Marshal Bert Pearson led the procession as the Myrtle Point band played martial music. A Round-Up horse was towed in a trailer behind a car driven by Elton Schroeder. Sterling Fryrear Sempert rode a saddle on the radiator. Cars were decorated with flags streamers and banners while occupants wore ten gallon hats and bright neckerchiefs.

Tourist Fractures Hip In Fall During Saturday outing

A tourist suffered a broken right hip after a fall while visiting Wisconsin on last Thursday. He was en route to Los Angeles when the accident occurred and is hospitalized with the injury.
