County Arrests charge Van Trease with child naping

County authorities charged Van Trease with kidnapping a child from a former marriage. The suspects were released after a word from officials. James Gilbert, 19, a native of Illinois, had been in Marshfield for the past month and was adjudged in court last Thursday and sent to a state hospital. Enry P, formerly warden at Point and Powers, was taken in custody this week on a charge of drunkenness in a ce. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail.

MPHS Grad Killed In Own Plane Near Centralia

Benton Luttrell, a Myrtle Point area resident and MPHS graduate, died in a plane crash near Centralia Washington on Saturday. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Jean Luttrell of Corvallis and had relatives in Broad Bend Myrtle Point and nearby towns. Funeral services were held in Corvallis Tuesday and his sister Elizabeth Luttrell taught in Myrtle Point schools for several years.

Gasoline Truck Hits Bridge Rail Near Myrtle Point

A gasoline truck collided with a bridge rail on the Myrtle Point Coquille highway about a mile from Myrtle. A second vehicle may have been parked on the road. the truck swung wide and struck the rail head on. One lane opened for cars, large trucks detoured via the north fork and Gravelford roads until the wreck was towed.

Cars Collide Near This City Injure Two on Highway

A wreck on the Myrtle Point Roseburg highway near the bridge at about 8 p m Wednesday injured two people. Mrs Mile Guerin of Sep Luis Obispo Calif sustained sprained arm and minor cuts. Gearhart, driving the front seat, suffered a sprain and minor injuries. The Gearhart car carried insurance. the Model T Runabout was uninsured.

Stanley Sherwood of Coquille suffered an injured back when he tumbled and fell in the downtown business district Saturday. He was taken to Coquille hospital for treatment.

First Coos County Homemakers Camp Held July 31 to August 4

Registration for Coos county first annual homemakers vacation camp opens via Oregon State College extension. The event at Eel camp near Lakeside runs July 31 to August 4 with 40 places, free lodging, no dishwashing or meal planning, and an optional produce contribution.
