Cecil McQuigg, son of Mr and Mrs Grover Y of Coquille, fractured his left leg while diving in Cunningham Creek near Coquille on Wednesday last week. He was transported to Coquille hospital for treatment.

County authorities charged Van Trease with kidnapping a child from a former marriage. The suspects were released after a word from officials. James Gilbert, 19, a native of Illinois, had been in Marshfield for the past month and was adjudged in court last Thursday and sent to a state hospital. Enry P, formerly warden at Point and Powers, was taken in custody this week on a charge of drunkenness in a ce. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail.
Benton Luttrell, a Myrtle Point area resident and MPHS graduate, died in a plane crash near Centralia Washington on Saturday. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Jean Luttrell of Corvallis and had relatives in Broad Bend Myrtle Point and nearby towns. Funeral services were held in Corvallis Tuesday and his sister Elizabeth Luttrell taught in Myrtle Point schools for several years.
The Oregon Milk Board announces full cooperation in prosecuting milk code violators and protection for dairy men against discrupulous acts. It urges dairymen to continue to support and uphold the law for their benefit as in the past and future.
Lee Ray Post Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ladies Auxiliary announce a joint picnic at the Fairgrounds on July Fourth morning with a potluck dinner to follow.
The Myrtle Point Woman's Club card party held Tuesday drew a large attendance with several tables of whist played both afternoon and evening. Committees received praise for coordination. hall decorations featured mixed garden flowers and refreshments of sandwiches and coffee were served. Local businesses contributed donations to the event.
A gasoline truck collided with a bridge rail on the Myrtle Point Coquille highway about a mile from Myrtle. A second vehicle may have been parked on the road. the truck swung wide and struck the rail head on. One lane opened for cars, large trucks detoured via the north fork and Gravelford roads until the wreck was towed.
A wreck on the Myrtle Point Roseburg highway near the bridge at about 8 p m Wednesday injured two people. Mrs Mile Guerin of Sep Luis Obispo Calif sustained sprained arm and minor cuts. Gearhart, driving the front seat, suffered a sprain and minor injuries. The Gearhart car carried insurance. the Model T Runabout was uninsured.
Stanley Sherwood of Coquille suffered an injured back when he tumbled and fell in the downtown business district Saturday. He was taken to Coquille hospital for treatment.
Registration for Coos county first annual homemakers vacation camp opens via Oregon State College extension. The event at Eel camp near Lakeside runs July 31 to August 4 with 40 places, free lodging, no dishwashing or meal planning, and an optional produce contribution. Eligible homemakers from city or country may enroll at the county agent’s office by the stated deadline.
Myrtle Point leaders held a chamber meeting Tuesday with Hames Cate recounting a southern travel offering praise for Coos County. A Round-Up discussion led to selecting a queen and forming a parade committee including Austin Dodge Eugene Laird Fryrear. The countywide parade is set for Tuesday at 1 PM with about 25 cars.
In Marshfield Coos Bay circles promoters announce a Friday boxing show with Leroy Gibson from Wichita against Frankie Monroe of Portland as the main event. Also featured are welterweights Tommy Corbett Omaha and Logger Jack Ribbard, with Clem Lambright versus Tony Camden and several other bouts.

Miss Eileen Elizabeth Clinton daughter of Mrs R A Ellis and Virgil Smith son of Mrs W D Barger, both of Myrtle Point, wed in a quiet ceremony at the bride's mother's home. Elder Charles Barklow read the service. about 20 attendees. The couple left Sunday for a honeymoon trip starting in Eugene.
The Octagon club gathered at the home of Mrs Charles Wooldridge on Fifth Street W in the afternoon. Members listed include Mes A Lariam and others joining the meeting.

Karts cautions about a bomb like firecracker one inch long and three eighths inch diameter containing 43 grains of explosive. Parents urged to instruct children to prevent accidents and fires.
