Myrtle Point Band Invited to State Educators Conference

MPHS band members and 80 performers under director Les Simons will travel by two buses to the University of Oregon for the State Educators Conference on Music Education. They perform Friday morning and join a band clinic Saturday, with a campus tour and hotel stay.

Outstanding Young Men Named At JC Bosses Night Banquet

At the Junior Chamber Bosses Night banquet held at the Anglers Cafe last Monday, Jac Elias, Jenn Koight and Ion were named Outstanding Young Men. Over 120 JC members and guests attended as Richard Severson introduced speaker Jack Lively, Springfield attorney and former Oregon State JEs official, who urged voters to study candidates and vote for the person, not a party.

Nineteen Groups At City Recreational Meeting

Nineteen organizations and churches attended a Wednesday Recreational meeting at the hall presided by Cam Beckham. Ben Nichols outlined a plan for a coordinated recreation program with a two member per organization commission and a possible fifty member advisory board to meet in February. Mary Jo Schroeder received straight A grades in all subjects for the last term at the University of Oregon. She was one of only 59 students to earn this distinction, requiring a 3.5 GPA or higher. Humphrey to Visit Oregon for Three Day Campaign Tour

Senator Hubert H Humphrey the Democratic presidential candidate will tour Oregon February 7 to 9 focusing in Eastern Oregon and Portland. Kindergarten Rlde Dedicated Debt Free to City by Association

The Myrtle Point Kindergarten Association unveiled a debt free building addition to the Scout complex Sunday. Don Bartley presided as president of the association, with Frank Furman supervising, and many local businesses and individuals donated labor and funds. Coos County Livestock Group to Meet at High School

The Coos County Livestock Association holds its annual meeting in Myrtle Point High School library on Saturday January 23 with Dr Kent Christensen Oregon State College agricultural economist speaking on lamb import issues.
