Remote News Notes From Coos County Meeting
The Remote Community club met Wednesday January 9 at Mrs Mamry Weathers home. Attendees included Alack Wally Marvin Mrs Vernon Sr Mes and others. The Coos County Livestock association annual meeting was attended by many locals. Visitors Sunday included Mr and Mrs Henry Weathers at the Otto Coon home on Sandy Creek and Mr and Mrs Forrest Strickland of North Bend. Jim Davis of Broadbent visited his parents on Sandy Creek. Vernon Sell Jr celebrated New Years Eve in North Bend with Chauncy Wilmot family. John Hill hosted guests Diva Weeman and Janice Weeman of Coos Bay. Phil Montague of Myrtle Point spent Sunday in Remote on business visiting Charla Bowers.

Oregon Marine Board Receives National Safety Award
The National Gold Cup Award for boating safety in 1962 goes to the Oregon State Marine Board announced at the National Motorboat Show in New York on January 10. The award honors exceptional nationwide effort to promote boating safety. Included is the Oregon Junior Boatman's Safety Course offered to youths.

Formaldehyde Plant Production Begins at Georgia-Pacific
Georgia-Pacific starts shakedown production at its formaldehyde plant using an oxidation process. The facility supports resin operations nearby with a 68 foot absorption tower dominating the tank farm.
