Plans For 1968 Coos County Fair In Full Swing
Coos County Fair board met at the Myrtle Hotel to plan the 1968 event. Bill Rubmann reported on the 1967 shodeo and plans to expand it for 1968. A half mile mono-rail ride with cement piers is planned. Rodeo, clown acts, and a parade theme contest are in the works with KWRO’s Leonard Epling named publicity man.

Bloodmobile to Visit Myrtle Point for First 1968 Stop
The Bloodmobile comes to Myrtle Crest Gym on January 29 from 3 to 7 pm. Donors aged 19 to 20 are urged to participate. Lions Rotary and Elks challenge each other in a donation contest with a quirky quota and a joke pint from Old Crow.

Coquille Valley Art Center Plans Winter Sessions
The Coquille Valley Art Center lists a winter program starting January 17 with courses in drawing and painting for all levels led by Liz Coke Vickie McKean Smith and Edna Hoffman. Bridge Man Dies in Weekend One Car Crash
Dennis Ray Wilsie, 30, died Saturday after a single vehicle accident four miles north of Bridge on Bear Creek county road. He reportedly lost control in loose gravel, veered over a bank, and landed upside down in the creek. He was not wearing a seatbelt. The body was taken to Myrtle Point Chapel of Cool Mortuaries. Inc. The car was left at the scene for kin to remove.

Two Myrtle Point Soldiers Discover Neighbors in Vietnam
Pfc Bill Floyd and Spec 4 Mike McCracken, both MP High School alumni, found they were stationed near each other at Chu Lai Vietnam. They shared Christmas together and attended the Bob Hope Show, bringing holiday cheer to their unit with the US Army. Floyd graduated 1966 and McCracken 1964 after OTT at Klamath Falls.

County To Offer Immunization For School Children
Coos County Health Department will offer immunizations to school aged children in Coos County starting January 15 1968. Vaccines include smallpox diphtheria whooping cough tetanus and oral Sabin polio for grades one four seven and twelve with a TB test also offered. Parents will receive a permission form and a vaccination record to return with a sign of consent and the list of immunizations.

Rotary members handed county treasurer Ed Stevenson a 375 dollar check at a noon meeting last Thursday part of an 850 dollar drive to fund a shop building at the Belloni Boys Ranch. Funeral services were held Wednesday January 10 for Dennis Ray Wilsie of Bridge Route who died January 6 in an automobile crash near Bridge. Rev. Dave Patterson of Badge Community Church officiated with burial at Norway Cemetery. Born May 26 1937 in Olympia Washington he had recently moved to the area. Survivors include his wife Dorothy his parents Winfred Wil sie and Violet Cummings two daughters Rozellen Tammy and Susie two brothers Winfred Jr Robert Jerry Rich and Bud and sister Mia Marine Solomon, all of Washington or nearby states.
