The Myrtle Point Sportsmen's Club outlines plans for the coming year. Officers Ralph Be pres- E. C. Barker vice-president and Renes secretary-treasurer are arranging to affiliate with the NM. NRA. The first indoor skeet shoot is scheduled at the fair grounds building this Friday. Members from Coos Bay will visit to join local enthusiasts. A trap shoot is planned for January 28 starting at 10 am and continuing until dark. A January 14 trap shoot at Reedsport will include sportsmen from all four district clubs.

Bill Downing of Myrtle Point Post 38 calls for packed toys by Saturday January 13 at the Legion hall. Toys collected at Union High School and Junior High Friday January 12 will be shipped to Philadelphia and then to Europe via CARE for distribution to children.

Adults Offered Woodworking Class At High School Shop

G B Goddard announced an evening woodworking class for adults to be taught by Ray Neugart the industrial arts instructor. The ten week course meets Tuesdays from 7 to 9 45 pm starting Jan 18 with prorated fees from 12 to 8 dollars based on enrollment. Interested persons should attend Jan 16 at 7 pm at the school shop and call the high school office about bookkeeping or typing classes.

Postmaster Milton Schroeder reports Myrtle Point postoffice has more than doubled mail volume in ten years. In 1930s figures the year 18950 price sales hit 23,174.59 dollars, up 2,122.02 from 1949, while ten years ago the business was 9,826.02 dollars. Christmas mail volume this year matches last year.

Construction on the Weyerhauser Timber Co. new sawmill at North Bend progresses on schedule with about 500 workers on site.
