Clifford Bronson Action in Korean War

Pfc Clifford Bronson is reported missing in action. A Myrtle Creek native, he enlisted in 1947 and served in Korea and Japan, returning in 1950 before reenlisting in June 1950 and serving with the engineers in Korea. He is the son of Mrs May Estes and nephew of Mrs Hattie Hatcher and Henry Bronson.

Boy Scout Troop 99 Enjoys First Overnight Camp On Red Mountain

Sixteen Scouts from Troop 98 endured their first overnight outing of the 1950-51 season on Red Mountain. Howard Whitaker and Arnold Melby ferried them to the trailhead at King's Canyon where they hiked with packed bedding and food. They lunch at an abandoned cabin, then cleared brush and moved toward a camp site with several unused cabins offered by Poverty of the Chaney Lumber Co. for a potential permanent base.

Man Who Robbed Barker Jewelry Store Is Caught And Sent to Prison

In Coquille on December 20 two men were sentenced to four years in the state penitentiary after appearing in circuit court. James D. Iman 25 and Arthur Junior Hayes 34 were charged with larceny of seven rifles from Barker Jewelry in Myrtle Point on February 10. Iman also known as Bob Connors was returned from California. State police recovered six rifles and part of the loot. $900,000 worth of ammunition remained missing.
