Derby Anglers Net Prizes In Fourth Week Of Lions Steelhead Derby
W. W. Rubin of Powers won first prize for the fourth week, taking a 17 jewel watch. Clacie Maat of Myrtle Point placed second with a 9 1/2 inch steelhead, and Larry Lawrence of Powers won third with a 5 1/2 lb steelhead. El McCracken of Myrtle Point had the smallest Steelhead this week, 2 lb 8 3/4 oz, while Merl Lund of Broadbent had the smallest in week four at 3 lb 4 oz. The derby continues through Feb 1 with prizes available at The Herald office and anglers urged to enter. Water is reported right and fishing excellent.

Young Man Dies After Brain Disorder in Myrtle Point
Milton, 17, attended a Friday service at Myrtle Point Assembly of God and died after collapsing in his car near a friend’s home. Police feared foul play as doctors prepared a postmortem to confirm diagnosis. Funeral held at Schroeder Funeral Home with burial at Sunset Cemetery. Survived by parents Elmer and anonymous mother, a brother Elmer Milton Jr., 20, a sister Betty Jane, 6, and grandparents Mr and Mrs William Hedgers of Toledo Washington.
