AJ Moore and Bob McKenzie spoke at the Myrtle Point Chanters meeting on February 17 about snowstorm damage and future improvements. PP & L plans to strengthen right of way to the water pump and improve lines, with auxiliary equipment and local radio communication for disasters. Crews from PP & L and aid from Weyerhaeuser and Menasha aided repairs, while disaster command was activated after the Columbus Day storm.

U Turn Accident Near Frenchie Creek Injures Two
A loaded logging truck and a state pickup collided on Highway 4 near Frenchie Creek on Monday morning February 17. Walt Denson of Coquille a State Highway Department foreman stopped to confer and turned, the cab collided with a Maze Bros logging truck driven by Jesse Laird of Myrtle Point. The logging truck plunged into the Coquille River. Denson remains hospitalized with head and neck injuries while Laird has a broken right shoulder. The Myrtle Point Inter Church Fellowship hosts a 6:30 p.m. potluck at the Christian Church with Cal Luderman as speaker.
