Dr Case suffered a broken right leg Monday after a fall at Bone Mountain near the Douglas county line. He was fouled under a log and companions had to saw to free him before a stretcher carried him from the canyon bottom to the road and to Mast Hospital for treatment.
A special meeting of the local Sportsmen's club is scheduled for 7 30 tonight at City hall Myrtle Point. Attendees will discuss plans and wishes for the group.
City council voted to raise water rates for out of town customers by 20 percent, increasing the monthly charge from 2.50 to 3.00 and the hookup fee from 10 to 26. City users retain current rates. Cooperation from mills aided early reopening. the order had limited closure to sixty days or until conditions allowed heavy truck use. Operators hauled extra gravel beyond normal county maintenance.
A North Bend man, Tommy Shafer, was injured when a tree snag struck him on the head while felling a tree in Rock Creek above Bridge. He was transported by Schroeder ambulance to McAuley Hospital in Coos Bay.
Twenty four men attended the meeting of the Sportsmen's association in San dey at McCulloch's fountain lunch. Allen King Jr will go to Coos Bay on Sunday to represent the local unity at the district meeting and during the following week no meeting will be held to pass upon.
The Lions Club hosted its annual banquet in the Country Club ballroom with Dick Johnson as host and Austin Dodge delivering a toast. Ray Jeeb of Coquille gave the principal address on Lionism and its benefits to members and the community, joined by Stan Sherwood and Mrs Sherwood from the Coquille club.

Nearly two hundred Boy Scouts and supporters from Myrtle Point Coquille and Bandon gathered at the Coquille community building for the Coquille Valley district meeting. Elmer Gant of Bandon received the Silver Beaver medal in a surprise ceremony presented by council executive Roger Bales of Eugene. Gant, a 19 year former scoutmaster, now chairs the district committee. Group plaques went to Bandon pack 317 and Coquille troop 68.
