Russian Clothing Drive Ends at Myrtle Point
The Russian relief drive collected twenty two cartons of clothing and two of shoes weighing 1563 pounds during Feb 5 to 10. Donated items included a high value fur coat and numerous garments. Shipments went to the Portland Russian Relief warehouse in four lots with civic groups aiding the effort. Bert Pearson chaired the drive and praised the strong community response.

Navy Men Attend Legion Reception After Myrtle Point Loss
About 68 Navy men and officers attended a Legion and Auxiliary reception at the Legion hall for the North Bend Airport team and visiting personnel. Myrtle Point defeated the Navy 46 to 18, with relishments served and a second event planned for the 28th when the Navy team returns to play here.

Coos county hosts a farm and home equipment demonstration at Coquille High School on Saturday February 34. Oregon State College extension service with County Agent Jenkins presents about 400 labor saving devices for farms and homemakers many craftable locally with plans available. Demonstrations cover manure fork post hole digger tilt top trailer milk cart drag saw hay fork and potato belt while homemakers see kitchen centers sewing kits and storage items plus food preservation and canning lessons.

Record Log Drive Down North Fork Brings Large Timber Volumes
About 26 million board feet of logs were delivered down the North Fork of the Coquille river in a major drive last week aided by high water. Remaining in the river after the effort was about 1.5 million feet, a strong showing for the season. The drive, led by L B L Logging Co, included dumped logs and several million feet for other operators under contract.

One hundred parents guests and future farmers attended the FFA Parent and Son pot luck at Union High School auditorium. Cedar Trees Planted In Brewster Vales
The O and C administration tree nursery crew at Mike planted three year Port Orford cedar trees on the south and west of Brewster ley this week. An adjoining 80 acre tract had shown unusually good results after a 1941 planting following a fire. The nursery at McKinley spans three acres with a foreman and five man crew. Douglas fir, Port Orford cedar and cypress are grown there.

Potato Chip Plant Expands Capacity With New Machine
J Francisco, who started a potato chip plant last summer, has installed a second chip processing machine doubling capacity to a maximum 100 tons per year. The Franciscos aim to reach full capacity, currently operating two to three days weekly, with 70 percent weight loss in processing. They could produce 80 tons annually at full output. Separately, Bomb gasoline rationing requires mileage records attached to each application for additional gasoline. records were mailed to all book holders in September and no fuel will be issued without it.
