The Methodist Episcopal church in this city will burn its mortgage Sunday after special services in the morning and an afternoon 2 30 service. Invitations have gone out countywide and a banquet will follow the morning rites.
Myrtle Point High and grade schools along with the American Legion and city authorities continue a clothing drive for Russian relief through Saturday night. Residents are asked to donate usable garments at the Seaman building near the Herald office or call number 15 for pickup. Clean clothing only. slightly damaged items accepted. Part of a state wide campaign from Feb 56 to 10th.
Paul Snyder of Canton China will address First Presbyterian Myrtle Point on February 18 at 7:30 PM. He and his wife and daughter were Japanese prisoners for eight months after Pearl Harbor before repatriation in 1942 aboard the Gripsholm. He led Hackett Medical Center as superintendent and helped plan its buildings, later serving as hospital manager.

A Herald reader urged reforming fat collection and praised a local Woman's club that has disposed of over two tons in 18 months. The club collects waste fats in tin or glass containers to avoid hazards and even proposes neighborhood pooling to increase efficiency.
