Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce members unanimously support cleaning the Coquille River and its tributaries. A Coquille C of C committee showed log jam slides highlighting blocks 13 to 15 feet deep threatening fish life and spawning. Citizens urged writing officials and pressuring the Port of Coquille. burning jams may be considered this year.

Shrine Club Donates 250 Dollars to Powers Firemen
Coos Curry Shrine Club of Coquille presented a 250 dollar check to Powers Volunteer Firemen on January 30. Fire Chief Lou Reed accepted the donation to aid equipment for the Disaster Wagon ambulance bought in October 1960. A single reclining cat loading bench and an upholstered seat were ordered for the attendant. Local officials Reube Stevens Mayor and councilmen William McLyman Ralph Anderson and Jack Bushnell attended.

Lions Club gifts Myrtle Point Kindergarten $100
The Myrtle Point Kindergarten received a $100 donation from the local Lions Club to buy peg boards. The association president is Bill Harper. Citizens are asked to donate trading stamps or cancelled backs to help acquire more chairs. A pancake supper is planned for March 12 at the Scout building.

Woman Burned When Coffee Pot Breaks
Mrs. Mal Vreeman sustained burns after a glass coffee pot broke at the Hotel Coffee Shop during a refilling. She was hospitalized at Mast Hospital for burns and shock and remained there overnight after assisting at the Chest X ray prior to the accident.

West Coast Telephone plans a central office building at Myrtle Point this year as part of a $4,612,820 Oregon budget for 11 months. Vance Weatherton of the Coos Bay division cited higher district outlays, with $1,521,300 for Coos Bay construction and $5670 site and $10,000 building costs for Myrtle Point. C Williams Oregon State Highway Engineer told a committee the highway commission rarely funds specific projects but has approved funds for Highway 43. The commission has spent 4 900 000 and the proposed 4 008 000 would fix the worst road section between Myrtle Filia and Mortis Fell. National Scout Week Observed in Myrtle Point
National Scout Week from February 7 to 13 is observed in Myrtle Point with morning services on February 12 in area churches. Cub Scouts will be special guests at the Christian church sermon by Rev. Glenn Hutton on building desirable old men. Scout activities include Troop 99 hiking along Johns Creek and a planned Scout banquet for Wednesday February 28 at the Methodist church with a guest speaker.
