Funeral services were held for Mrs Emelis Perkins a 62 year old Myrtle Point resident. She died Monday afternoon from complications including gall bladder trouble flu infection and heart embolism. Survived by husband two children and extended relatives. Community businesses closed in respect.

Road to Powers Blocked By Large Rain Slide
Heavy rainfall caused a riverbank landslide across the Powers road near the William Massey ranch just below Gaylord. Debris filled the road to 20 feet depth over 200 feet long, a tree stood upright in the mass, and a parked road truck was swept into the river. Coquille Crash Leaves Riverton Youths Injured
In heavy rain and glare from headlights two Riverton youths crashed into a telephone pole at Front and Willard streets in Coquille at 11 PM. Fred Berry suffered severe facial injuries. Clyde Smith was treated for shock and bruises. At a Justice court hearing Smith was fined 100 dollars and given 30 days in jail, suspended on payment. Berry was only a passenger and not drinking.
