Mastodon Remains Found Near Here Recalled in 1694 Discovery

The article recalls an earlier mastodon find near Gravel ford in 1694 by members of the Harrison family. A tusker section about 50 feet long and heavy bones were described, with specimens weighing around 63 pounds and later studies suggesting a tropical habitat. Nearby locals Ben Harrison and Rob Marinom are noted as residents of Myrtle Point.

Woman Hurt in Highway Return Crash at Junction City

Mrs Henry Schroeder suffered a broken arm when a horse door opened on a trip home from Junction City with her son Elbert. She was rushed to a Eugene hospital for fracture reduction and treatment for shock and bruises.

United Air Lines Aviator Killed Instantly At Eugene

Harold R Adams a renowned western aviator died when his United Air Lines tri motor crashed near Eugene Oregon after striking a field light and telephone wires during takeoff from the Eugene flying field. Co pilot stewardess and another pilot were injured or killed. Adams died of a broken neck after escaping a burning wreck. An official inquiry was ordered by aeronautical inspectors.

The Myrtle Point junior high team will join Powers, Bandon, North Bend, Coquille, Bunker Hill in the ana' basketball tournament at Riverton on the 28th. Powers won the county championship with a 21 to 16 victory presented by a Marshfield concern.
