The court schedules motion day for January 3 at the courthouse. Judgment transcripts cost 11.90 and 178.90 in costs. The message references attendees and a guest at a function, with unclear names and a note about land plots in section 36 and delays in east travel.
Oregon unemployment officials warn that wage and separation reports often mislabel terminations as discharged for misconduct. Incorrect coding delays benefits and may trigger inquiries to ascertain actual reasons such as work completed or layoff, with penalties set by law.
The southwest corner Texaco service station at Spruce and Eighth streets will switch to Texaco products with work beginning by year’s start. Owner Jimmie Aty will continue to operate the station under lease from Wallace Pumen, with remodeling and repainting to occur soon.
A potluck at the Masonic hall drew 52 members for installation of wear officers for the coming year. Eastern Star officers installed included Worthy Matron Mrs Ho Van Alter and Worthy Patron Perry Sper, with several other officers named and several absent. Visitors from Cuquille and Bandon attended. Masons installed Worthy Master Milton Craen and other officers.
Coquille Valley Country Club hosts a Saturday night ball for county residents. Attendees will dance to entertainment while welcoming the New Year. Tickets and guest lists handled by club members.
Christmas season brings family visits and guests to Coquille Marshfield and nearby towns. Notables include Mr and Mrs Mack McHeuss of Coquille visiting Frank Hornish, and the Barker households hosting Dr James Richmond and relatives. Marriage licenses show Marvin Covie of Port Orford and Beatric Madden of Marshfield wed Dec 16 at the bride’s father home with Rev Oliver J Gill officiating. Ralph Mathews of Bumner and Martha Movure of North Bend united Christmas Day at Marshfield Baptist Church with Rev Neil Barnes. Vern Baker and Juanita Buss of Marshfield wed Dec 23 at the groom’s home, Rev Oliver J Guill officiating. Noble Wheeler and Eleanor Corthell of Lane County wed by license from Lane County on Monday. Rudolph Rostatter and Dora Neece, Marshfield residents, married by Rev Oliver Join. Rudolph Rostatter and Dora Neece, both of Marshfield, were married Tuesday by Justice Clarence Barton at his Coquille office.
Henry Schroeder was appointed to the State Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers. His two year term begins with the first meeting in Portland on January 10 11 and 12. Oswald Adams, who studied embalming in San Bernardino, will become a member of the association at that time.
Inmates held in County Jail include Roy Kerns 22 arrested December 23 on grand larceny charges after a North Bend auto theft. James Morris 17 served a 3 dollar fine in County Jail for driving with four in the front seat. W H Butler jailed for common nuisance at North Bend with bail set at 750. Christ Gwillim 85 of Coquille charged with drunken driving spent Christmas weekend jailed. John Darling 41 sent from Coquille to serve 30 days for drunkenness. Alfred E Peterson 38 Marshfield jailed for non payment of 96 and 10 fines from driving without license after failing driver tests and cursing state exams.
The Myrtle Point Public Library will open every weekday afternoon from 2 to 5 due to increasing book demand and crowded quarters. A non resident registration fee of 1 will be charged, exempting property owners within Myrtle Point. outlying residents will help cover library expenses and upkeep.
Norway school hosted a Friday afternoon Christmas program in two acts. The primary department under Miss Evelyn Bones presented carols and a three act play The Birds Christmas Carol with cast including Mary June Foote Jimmie Gheer and Joseph Bird, while Mrs Laura Brandon directed the advanced room production The Birds Christmas Carol with a lengthy named cast. Melve Berry announced and Chester Oylear served as stage manager.
Monty Lund fell from a moving car between Broadbent and Myrtle Point last Tuesday when a door opened. His mother Mrs. Louis Lund of Geylord rushed him to Mast hospital where doctors said he suffered only minor bruises with no serious injuries.

Curry County Bank vs G V Miller aims to recover auto possession or 300 plus 50 damages and costs. Anna Grant administratrix vs Basil Smith seeks return of a sedan valued at 660 taken November 1938. Coos Bay Dredging Co vs A O Welker defense denied. Marie Livengood vs Chester Emery seeks partition and sale of apartment house and furnishings with attorney fees 128. Miller Tractor and Equipment Co of Eugene vs McNair Sykes to collect 162 balance plus interest 8 from May 28 1836 and attorney fees costs.
Mrs. Carrie Nickason of Sitkum stumbled coming out of the woodshed last Thursday and fell, striking her face on the porch step. Her nose and mouth bore the brunt, producing a severely bruised, swollen, and blackened face though no bones are believed broken.
Five young men from Coos county will join a National Youth Administration residence project opening Jan 31 at Skinner's Butte Eugene. They will receive $38.14 monthly for 67 hours, cover living costs, and attend morning classes at Eugene Vocational School with afternoon NYA work. Applications are sought through NYA state office Portland and NYA offices in Salem and Medford.
J E Paulson of Coquille appointed administrator of the estate of his late wife Christina Paulson who died December 17 1908 in Coquille. Other heirs include Walter F and two daughters Mrs Maxine Mauney and Miss Margaret Paudeon all of Coquille. Wm Vaughn W G Robertson and Robert Craeger named to appraise an estate valued at 96660.
Approximately 125 friends gathered at the Gravelford on Friday night for a reprise birthday party honoring Miss Deethy Jean Watson daughter of Dr and Mrs William Watson of Pleasant Point. The evening featured dancing and several pretty gifts. At midnight cake and sandwiches were served.

A small fire broke out around 8 p.m. Christmas Eve at the Olive Skull residence. The blaze started from excessive Christmas wrappings in the fireplace causing the flue to burn out. No damage reported.
A long list of Thanksgiving and Christmas visiting relatives and friends across towns and states. Angeles visitors Mr and Mrs Charles Guerin and Thomas of Los Angeles arrived Saturday for several days. Ralph Kring traveled to Longview Washington for holidays with Mrs Kring’s mother. David Levison left for Tillamook on business and planned return. Numerous Christmas dinner guests are named including Lawrence Clinton family and others from Kansas. A wide array of weekend guests and calls from relatives in Oregon and Washington are noted.
