Masons and OES Install Officers Tuesday Evening

A potluck at the Masonic hall drew 52 members for installation of wear officers for the coming year. Eastern Star officers installed included Worthy Matron Mrs Ho Van Alter and Worthy Patron Perry Sper, with several other officers named and several absent. Visitors from Cuquille and Bandon attended. The Myrtle Point Public Library will open every weekday afternoon from 2 to 5 due to increasing book demand and crowded quarters. A non resident registration fee of 1 will be charged, exempting property owners within Myrtle Point. outlying residents will help cover library expenses and upkeep.

Yuletide Program Performed by Norway Students

Norway school hosted a Friday afternoon Christmas program in two acts. The primary department under Miss Evelyn Bones presented carols and a three act play The Birds Christmas Carol with cast including Mary June Foote Jimmie Gheer and Joseph Bird, while Mrs Laura Brandon directed the advanced room production The Birds Christmas Carol with a lengthy named cast. Lund boy escapes serious injury after roadside fall

Monty Lund fell from a moving car between Broadbent and Myrtle Point last Tuesday when a door opened. His mother Mrs. Louis Lund of Geylord rushed him to Mast hospital where doctors said he suffered only minor bruises with no serious injuries.

Woman Bruises Face in Fall at Sitkum Porch

Mrs. Carrie Nickason of Sitkum stumbled coming out of the woodshed last Thursday and fell, striking her face on the porch step. Her nose and mouth bore the brunt, producing a severely bruised, swollen, and blackened face though no bones are believed broken.

NYA project aids youths find work schooling in Coos county

Five young men from Coos county will join a National Youth Administration residence project opening Jan 31 at Skinner's Butte Eugene. They will receive $38.14 monthly for 67 hours, cover living costs, and attend morning classes at Eugene Vocational School with afternoon NYA work. Applications are sought through NYA state office Portland and NYA offices in Salem and Medford.

Fire at Olive Skull home on Christmas Eve

A small fire broke out around 8 p.m. Christmas Eve at the Olive Skull residence. The blaze started from excessive Christmas wrappings in the fireplace causing the flue to burn out. No damage reported.
