City Council Considers $21,500 Diesel Fire Truck Offer
Council reviews an offer from an equipment house to sell a demonstrator Diesel fire truck built by American LaFrance for 21 500. City manager Ben Nichols says the rare low bid could save about 2000 in taxes and the truck could be delivered immediately trading in the 1951 Diamond T. The city would then have two pumps ready to serve, the GMC from 1964 and the demonstrator.

Daniels Elected To Membership Of Honorary
Raymond Daniels son of Mr and Mrs Ben Dumréis has been elected to the International Honorary Professional Fraternity of Industrial Arts and Industrial Vocational Education under the Oregon State University Delta Chapter of Epsilon Pi Tau Major ity in Industrial Arts Education. He is a junior at Oregon State and a Myrtle Point High School graduate class of 1965. Initiation will be in spring 1968. Courses at Myrtle Point Episcopal Church cover Basic Clothing Construction from January 4 and Tailoring a set starting January 3. Additional classes in Basic Fitting and Shirtmaking begin January 9 at Coquille Methodist Church. SWOCC offers a winter term Bookkeeping course at Coquille High School starting January with fee $10.

George A Shorb Succumbs After 83 Years
George Albert Shorb died December 25 in Coos Bay at age 83. Funeral services set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Powers Church of God with burial in Powers Cemetery. He was born February 14, 1884 in Scotts Bar California and lived in St. Catherine’s Nursing Home. Surviving children include Bill Dennis Joseph Lowell Scott Glenda Leah Alberta, and many others. he was preceded by his wife on August 20, 1964.
