The Myrtle Point Herald announces an advance publication next week with deadlines for news and advertising set for Friday afternoon December 37. The change aims to speed up posting and improve timeliness for readers and advertisers.
Myrtle Point cowboy Russon McCall, 23, after competing in Oklahoma City at the National Finals, details his 1974 season. He earned 12 465 points, rode over 100 bucking horses with four faults, and won about 1 000 in Oklahoma City. He plans a Denver start in January aiming for 1975 Finals.
The sense of questions and issues from Coos County town halls emphasizes highway improvements, small business incentives, citizen participation in land use planning, and attracting new industries. A county wide ballot, drafted by delegates, will be broadcast on KCBY TV and published with a postage paid return to encourage public response.
Four Myrtle Point FFA members earned checks totaling 965.47 for cattle shown at the Oregon State Fair in Salem last fall. Victor Varrone received 920.24 for a Jersey yearling and calf, Keith Hermann 916.33 for a Shorthorn cow and calf, Richard Proffitt 0.48 for a Jersey yearling heifer. Victor also won 190.00 as statewide Fred Meyer award winner. Ros and another member bought a Jersey yearling heifer. Gale Road of Arago lent a truck to haul the cattle to Salem from Aug 23 to Aug 27.
