Fawns Not Scentless Says Mule Deer Study On Steens Mountain
Game crews on Steens Mountain Oregon tested the myth that newborn fawns are odorless. Using dogs to locate 87 fawns, researchers found several fawns were detected before humans could see them, and similar scent clues helped expose other species’ young. The cold spell threatens wildlife, with feeding stations advised to help birds and small animals endure the winter. Big game ranges like Bridge Creek Wennha White River Elkhorn Jewell Meadows attract winter visitors and photographers.
