Myrtle Point Chamber to Host Christmas Merchandise Give-Away
The Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce plans a Saturday merchandise give-away starting at 10 a.m. in front of the Hyland Theatre. Tickets drawn at intervals will determine prizes including a 10-speed bicycle and more. Lions Club Christmas Party follows at 1 p.m. with a free movie and Santa Claus appearance.

Counties seek grant for regional solid waste planning
Coos and Curry counties plan to apply for a $47,000 Department of Environmental Quality grant to fund a six month solid waste disposal plan covering collection disposal and recycling for the two county area. The plan will be overseen by a joint county commission council with input from wood products industry sanitation reps and area cities. The effort aims to curb waste problems by year end 1973 amid coastal terrain and industry challenges. Four Coquille Valley residents won $50 savings accounts at the Bank of Myrtle Point grand opening. Bank manager McZunwalt said crowds attended. Local children may call Santa Sunday 6 to 8 pm at 678 8418 in Myrtle Point. A Christmas observance is set for 6 pm Sunday Dec 17 at the Masonic Lodge Mall in Myrtle Point with all masons invited.
