Coos County Farm Receipts See 11.5 Million in 1972

Cash receipts from Coos County farm products for 1972 are estimated at 11,503,000 dollars, up 18 percent from 1971. Dairy remains the top source, with 96,234,000 dollars, while beef, sheep and wool, and cranberries also rise. however net income to farmers is not expected to rise proportionately due to higher production costs.

Man Dies When Car Plunges Near Myrtle Point

Bruce Wayne Stout, 18, of Remote, died last Friday when the car he was driving went into the Middle Fork of the Coquille River four miles east of Myrtle Point. Sheriff's divers found the car at 2 a.m. Saturday and it was later hauled from the water by a Coos Bay tow rig. A passing motorist alerted the sheriff at 10:40 p.m. Friday. search began but paused at midnight for daylight.

Author Drowns in Surf at Bandon

Mrs. Alice H. Wooldridge 74 of Myrtle Point drowned in the surf at Bandon Monday evening while walking with relatives. A log in a large wave knocked her down and carried her into deep water. her niece was knocked down and taken to South Coos General Hospital then transferred to Keizer Hospital in North Bend.

Photography Class Offered in Coquille This Winter

Southwestern Oregon Community College adds a basic photography course for Coquille residents in winter term. Taught by Robert Doods, the class meets Thursdays 7 to 10 p m at Coquille High School Room 12 with a $18 fee. The course covers camera use composition and basic photo work.
