544 000 Trees to Be Planted in Siskiyou Forests by Spring

Siskiyou National Forest planting program underway with about 544 thousand trees planned and 250 acres completed this fall. Wind River nurseries in Washington and Oregon seedling distribution totals around 2% million for multiple national forests. Direct seeding by helicopter on 1,000 acres in the Detroit fire area and 1,900 acres in the Fremont forest progress as winter approaches.

Christmas Program At M E Church Next Sunday

A Christ mas observance by the Sunday school is planned for next Sunday morning with each class taking part at 9 48 AM. At 10 30 parents visit the primary department at the First Methodist Church. At 11 the pastor speaks on God Way of Speaking to Men. A Christmas Vesper service begins at 7 PM with all church school children participating. Families are urged to attend. Christmas parties for the children are held this week.

Coquille special report says the Knights Templars of southwestern Oregon will hold a Christmas breakfast and devotional meeting in the Masonic hall at 9 30 a m Christmas day. A fine program is being arranged and all Knights and their families are urged to attend by order of the Eminent Commander.

Kirsteins Return From Six-Thousand Mile Auto Vacation

Mr and Mrs Kirstein owners of Neighborhood Grocery completed an extended two month auto trip of about 6000 miles. They began Oct 19 from Myrtle Point visiting Centria Tacoma Seattle and California and returned home after visiting relatives including Mrs Addie Kremm Mrs J R Langdon and Mr Albert Langdon. Weather was mostly favorable with some cool spells.

Sportsmen Enjoy Big Turkey Shoot Event at Local Club

More than 200 sportsmen from shoots ever sponsored by the local club attended the turkey shoot event. Participants lined up at the range for a series of targets and prizes were awarded for top scores.

Oregon drivers must renew commercial licenses this month

Oregon commercial drivers must renew chauffeur licenses by December 31 though badges will not be issued. The 1951 legislature ended badge issuance. renewals continue with new cards being mailed as applications arrive. A total of 51,248 licenses were granted this year, about 1,900 more than last year.
