City groups distribute food baskets to needy families on Christmas Day. Christmas programs unfold at several churches with multi act plays, recitations, music, and nativity pages featuring local cast members.
Local Elks leaders P W Laird and Bud Emery urge notice of needy Sheds families as they organize Christmas cheer. Last year Coos county fed about 400 families on Christmas Day through the Elks program. At 2 pm Sunday the charity football game on Golden Field Marshfield features two top Southwestern Oregon teams with admission of a few cents, players donating services, proceeds to the needy.
Ray Brown aged ten and Reed Keller aged seven of Coquille were struck on the Marsh field Coquille highway near Coquille high school. Frank Brewster drove the car and was exonerated over blame after lights blinded him. A double funeral was held at Pioneer Methodist church Coquille on Sunday afternoon.
Gaylord Oregon residents painted the interior of the community hall on Sunday evening and cleaned the building. A pot luck dinner followed. Neva Hamilton, child of Mr and Mrs Ben Hamilton, is ill. the Armatrongs spent the weekend with the Masons.
