About 90 area residents attended a two day Seminar Workshop for Women at First Christian Church. Mrs Phyllis Chalmers presented Verna Birkey lectures from Seattle and the circuit includes 175 cities in the US and abroad. Next session will be Feb 1 in Grants Pass with a $20 fee.

Lillian Ede, 79, of Myrtle Point, reflects on a life filled with homemaking, ironing for longtime customers, and extensive crochet, embroidery, and tatting work. She built a home on Maple Street after arriving in 1942, drew the plans, and lived there with her family while supporting herself through ironwork, sewing, and crafts.

Myrtle Crest bond issue eyed for Myrtle Point district
Myrtle Point School District plans another bond measure of 375000 dollars to fund multi purpose and music additions at Myrtle Crest School. The eight year bond would start construction in late March if voters approve at a January 11 election. a previous Sept ballot failed 568 to 425.

FBI agents urge timber theft prevention measures
FBI agents John J. Heidtke and Dennis R. October CPI rises 0.4 percent led by autos and fuel
The CPI rose 0.4 percent in October before seasonal adjustment to 173.3, up 5.3 percent from a year earlier. On a seasonally adjusted basis the index gained 0.3 percent, with higher prices for new cars gasoline natural gas electricity and fruits and vegetables driving the increase.
