The Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce elected officers and directors, naming L. P Ling as president and Edgar Richard Everett, W. E. Gurney, and others as officers. The Methodist and Presbyterian churches plan a joint Christmas service at the Presbyterian Church on Sunday December 16 at 7348 p m. Mrs Mugh Mitchelmere conducts with Miss Marianas Meele at piano and Miss Esther Nelson on organ. The program features carols, anthems, and a choir of soprano tenor and bass voices including Zella May Moon Kathryn Sumerlin Harry Druliner and Delbert Steele among others.
Dora A J Mayse is recovering at home from a severe cold. Kenneth Thompson travels to North Bend for work. Mr and Mrs Harvey Minard hosted weekend visitors, and Frank McCrary from Coquille visited relatives in Brewster Valley. Wilda Shepherd hosted Grace Linn and Margaret Stevenson, while Macie Crumley and Louise from Fat Elk joined Mr and Mrs Mayse for dinner. Home Economies Extension held an all day meeting at OG Bunch room with Miss Julia Bennett leading menu planning. attendees included W I DeBoer, Julius Benyam, Laurence Moore, E L Bales, Edwin Abdernethy, Harold Minard, J N Gearhart, H E Shepherd, Priscilla Miller, and the hostess Mrs Bunch.

John Dickson hauled a six foot sturgeon weighing about 66 pounds on Saturday in the bay area. The catch thrilled Dickson and his friends who marveled at its size and bragged about the feat.
Mr and Mrs Frank Hazelwood report their son Arval Scout was sent to March Field near Los Angeles in the forepart of last month but could not visit this section. He has been stationed at Burke Gale Field and Shreveport for some time, and hopes to come home later this year possibly visiting Salem people at Kelly Field in Texas.

Jesse Clinton has been ill with a severe cold. Mr and Mrs A M Christensen and Marvine visited Jesse Clinton. Marveen Christensen had luncheon with her grandparents Mr and Mrs Jesse Clinton. Marshfield shoppers included Mrs Alice Lafferty Janice Miss Ethel Roop and Mrs Thomas Guerin. Thomas Guerin and Janice Lafferty visited Mr and Mrs Earl Tiche-bor in Coguille for Sunday dinner.
The St Ann's Altar society holds a sale in The Herald office on Saturday December 17 starting at 10 o'clock. A display of fancywork and delicious homemade candy will be on sale.
Townsend town carnival held Thursday evening in the grange hall attracted about 200 people. M and Mrs Glenn Neideigh played violin and piano, followed by dancing with square dances led by Joe Laird, William Jeorman, Ray Shell, and J L Jewett.
Edward McClelan of Coquille was arrested Tuesday for violating basic traffic rules and fined $1 before the city recorder. Friday Denel Moran of Merth Bend also fined $1 for double parking in the business section of the city.
Adrian Page of Fort Klamath California an IOOF lodge member and longtime local barber died recently. He is survived by two sons William and Gus both of Fort Klamath a brother Charles of Bandon and a sister Mrs Nellie Macklin whose address is unknown. Charles Page of Bandon visited en route to Fort Klamath for the funeral Tuesday.
A registered Guernsey cow named Kaiser's Jewel 565524, bred by H E Wooden of Willamina, was sold to Lawrence Barklow of Myrtle Point. The sale is noted by the American Guernsey Cattle ib of Peterborough NH.
Mrs Margaret Steiner of Oregon State Library assisted in cataloguing books at the local library. The effort could yield more space and a prouder public library. Juvenile fiction and benefaction titles, previously sold at Sempert’s Drugstore and the library, now available at the library for 80 cents to 3 dollars. The library board suggests these items as Christmas gifts, with sale proceeds benefiting the library.
The Bridge school and community chorus will present The Magi's Gift an operetta by Care M Grubbe and Bryceson Tre narne in the school auditorium on Thursday December 22 at 7 18 pm The medieval England set includes carrollers mummers and dancers with a nativity scene from a medieval mystery play The event is sponsored by the community Christmas committee and features Mrs Orlin Lett Miss Cherie Mac Hartwell Miss El Canoe Menegat in charge of costumes sets and lighting Admission is free.
Masters wardens gathered in Coquille Tuesday evening for the annual election of officers for District Re 12. Elected were President Bilton Schroeder Myrtle Point first vice president Theodore Clinton Coquille second vice president Edward Gamwell Powers third vice president Clayton Sayers Port Orford treasurer George Winchester Marshfield and secretary R C Bowers Myrtle Point. The association includes past masters wardens of Masonic lodges in Gardiner Lois Port Orford and Gold Beach. The group has focused on writing histories of each lodge in the district.
The Townsend club held a Sunday afternoon meeting at Townsend hall with J W Buckner as presiding officer. Visitors included Mr and Mrs KE Arnett of North Bend and Mr and Mrs J A Prentice of Marshfield who gave speeches and sang. Tewneen's birthday and memorial Thursday evening January 12 at the grange building featured a special program.

A coupe traveling to Coquille at 2 20 Sunday afternoon left the road and plunged down an embankment near the railroad track. Norman Morsing, manager of the Coquille grocery branch, was driving and in the car with him an unidentified passenger sustained injuries while Morsing escaped harm.
