The Junior Woman's Club met Monday night at the TG Zumertin home with Milas Grace as hostess about 30 attended. The program on American Citizenship followed the business meeting, and cheese sandwiches cane and tea were served. Miss Hilda Boice of Bandon visited the J N Auer home last week.

Portland Man Hired for Myrtle Pine School Faculty

Ralph Long of Portland is appointed to fill the vacancy in the Myrtle Pine Ceeods school faculty after Caraydan Crews resignation last week. He is a University of Oley graduate with years of teaching experience and will teach wave physics and mathematics to seventh grade students.

Examination date set for Myrtle Point drivers licenses

The examiner and chauffeurs will be in Myrtle Point next Thursday December 16 to interview those who hold licenses to drive. The examiner will be at the city hall in Myrtle Point from 9 to 10 o clock.

Sithum Child Dies After Six Months Illness

The 12 year old Sithum Nickason daughter of Mr and Mrs W A Nickason died Sunday morning December 5 1937 after six months of illness. She was born October 1 1925 at North Kret and lived in Brewster Valley. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1 o clock in Idura chapel with Turner MacDonald officiating. Interment followed in Dora cemetery. Survived by parents and maternal grandfather Mr M Walson, paternal grandmother Mrs Carrie Nickason, and maternal great grandmother Mrs Missour Kirkendall.

The local Woman's Christian Temperance Union will host a benefit shower Friday at Mrs Edwin Schrogder's home on Fourth Street Sontea Children’s Farm Home will use toys food clothing and other items. A Thanksgiving offering from a church service was gratefully received.

City Council Grants Marshal Bert Pearson Pay Increase

At the December 6 meeting the City Council approved a $15 per month raise for Marshal Bert Pearson effective December 1 due to his duties and long hours. A hotel license was issued to F L Hazelwood and rooming house licenses to N E Bond. The council also recommended beer dispensing licenses for Two Safeway stores and other named establishments. Arago Teams Win All Games Friday

Arago High opened the season with a victory in the boys game 20 to 4 over Langlois. Players included Tennessee Robison, Ivan Robison, Everett Doyle, Ellis Rackleff, Clyde Lille, Ethan Parker, Milton Hammack and Stephen Aasen. County Treasurer notes 22000 warrants unpaid and calls for payment

County Treasurer Chas Mauls reports 22000 in non high school district warrants awaiting payment while another warrant call is advertised elsewhere. No marriage licenses issued in two weeks as Cupid presses opportunities. Arrests include C F Drew 53 at North Bend for fishing unlawfully fined 100 dollars. Clyde St Clair 22 faced charges for a non supercharge and was towed for questioning.

Local Moves Highlight Manning and Family in Reedsport

C W Manning and family moved December 9 to Reedsport. Manning is connected with state highway department and has spent months repairing bridges on the North Fork. Rev F H Barr and family moved to Otto Prey residence on Railroad Avenue. Mrs A L Courtright moved from Barklow Seventh Street to the Otto Davis house on C Street. Mr and Mrs Henry Eaton moved into the Schroeder house at Maple and Seventh Streets NW corner, recently vacated by the L L Powers family.

Latter Day Church Elects Officers

The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints elected officers for the coming year at a Monday meeting. Officers include W. H. Deac er as pastor, Mrs. Charles McCracken as church school miner yet are, Milton Craven as assistant school supervisor, Frank Seen as mission solicitor, Mrs. Fred Zumwalt as publicity agent, Mrs. Milton Craven as mission secretary treasurer, Joe Laird as musical director, and Mrs. Fred Zumwalt as women's department leader. Elder Willard Becker of Kelso Washington chaired the meeting and is a Columbia district missionary.

Davenport Girl Weds Medford Man In Holiday Nuptial

Miss Lila Adelle Davenport wed Robert Ocheltree at the Medford Methodist parsonage on Monday December 6 1937. The Davenport family had two prior 1937 marriages Lois Davenport to Elton Schmidt and Mary Davenport to Desmond Gercelon. The couple reside five miles east of Myrtle Point on the Roseburg road. The bride wore a gray suit with a white blouse and black accessories. A chicken supper was held at the Davenport home with many relatives present.
