Fourth Death In Ray Family Occurs Sunday

An obituary notes the fourth death in the Ray family occurred Sunday after a three day illness with pneumonia. Fannie Morgan Nay died at age 78 in Dekalb County Missouri. Funeral services are planned at 1 30 on Friday at Schroeder Funeral Home with burial at Norway Cemetery. Gravelford Man Hurt In Fall From Cabin Roof

Paul Bunch of Gravelford fell about 12 feet from the roof of a cabin being built at the Schroeder Iverson Ruiny camp at Sixes. He landed on his head and left shoulder, fracturing a vertebra in his back and injuring neck vertebrae, suffered facial injuries and a mouth cut. He remained in Coquille hospital Friday night, receiving care from nurses and a doctor, with last report that he was getting along nicely.

Local Corn Grower Wins State Prize at Portland Show

A local corn grower won third prize for a fine dent variety at the Oregon State Fair in Portland. The official presented him with a certificate and a cash prize of six dollars, plus a decorative ribbon honoring the event.

Olier Grant Miller of South Catching Creek died Friday December 3 in Ashland hospital after a cataract removal failed to curb infection. He had lived most of his life in Catching Creek area before moving to Ashland. Funeral services were held in Ashland with relatives in attendance.

Local people attend funeral in Klamath Falls for Erma Bell Hermann

Erma Bell Hermann died after a finger injury became infected following a glass washing accident. She was 45, lived in Klamath Falls, and had married Russell Hermann two years earlier. Funeral services were held in Klamath Falls with Salvation Army officers officiating, and interment followed in the local cemetery. Surviving relatives include husband Russell, four daughters, three sons, and four brothers, with several local residents attending the funeral from nearby communities.

A letter from Mrs. W W Deyoe, visiting Alturas with her daughter Mrs Paul Tanner, recounts the Pitt River flood damage. Heavy rains raised the river to flood stage at 2 30 Saturday morning, with water nearly reaching the Tanner home floor. Some areas saw water 15 feet deep, stores under water, and many families evacuated to the high school. Mr and Mrs Raymond Endicott escaped major damage due to higher ground. Brewster Valley School Saved By Dog Antics

A small dog accompanying Harry Crowley twice alerted his master to a Sitkum schoolhouse fire. The boy, who planned to ride his bicycle, was led inside by the dog’s barking and found the building already burning, then extinguished the flames with water. A pasted board on the stove and an oiled floor contributed to the fire.
