At Myrtle Crest School Cub Pack 99 held a November meeting awarding service stars to J Cole F G Barrows M P Hathaway R Garrone C Rema B Thurman and recognizing Silver Arrows for Randy Rema Mark Labart Kim Lambert Jimmy DeSoto Victor Garwne and Rawn McCall. Gary Aasen and John Dumite earned Bobcat pins. Den 2 won best den. Den 4 won Robot prize for most relatives present. Frank Bassnews chaired in absence of Cubmaster Frank Cook.
Ben Daniels of the Chamber of Commerce wins council approval to hold a turkey scramble on December 16 at Spruce Street between 4th and 6th. Twelve turkeys will be used and the event should last about 30 minutes. A street light on A Street north of Spruce is approved after an area study. Two minor accidents near the Hamias and St. S. intersection prompt a proposed yellow no parking zone along the cafe corner.
At 5 00 am firemen and 20 residents were awakened by a double fire alarm caused by a shorted circuit. Police and fire phone systems were out of order due to a failure in the phone network.

Warren Henry Donaldson 22 of Oklahoma City died after a 1967 Pontiac Fishbird veered off Powers highway and struck a guardrail at 3:20 pm on Thursday November 20. Myrtle Point ambulance transported him to Mast Dr. EB F Beber. internal injuries listed as cause of death. Vehicle removed by Clement Wrecking of Myrtle Point. Donaldson resided at the J C Taylor residence in Powers. Burial at Bill Bisske r Funeral Home in Dell City.
Marine Corps unit escorts the burial of Marvin Ray Smith at Powers Cemetery on December 1. Smith was killed November 19 in Vietnam action sixty eight days before he was to return to the United States after serving from January 1968.
