Despondent WWII Vet Deloss Strong Dies by Own Action
Deloss Strong 42 recently of Cottage Grove and Myrtle Point born and raised in Myrtle Point committed death by own action last Wednesday morning near the Myrtle Point city park. He drove to the park after breakfast and shot himself three times with a 30 30 rifle. Neighbors heard the shots and the body was found on top of the gun beside his car. He was a World War I veteran, served in the Army Air Corps 1942 1945 and was in Okinawa at armistice time. He was survived by his wife and two daughters in California and several siblings and relatives attended the funeral Saturday at Schroeder Funeral home. He and his wife were divorced.
