The Red Cross drive in Coos and Curry counties ended after Thanksgiving with about 600 memberships secured, down 250 from last year. During the year about 2000 families received aid including food fuel clothing and shelter through the Hedrose administration. The chapter distributed 5800 larrels of mowes 6000 yards of cloth 1609 pounds of garden seeds and other items. Membership levels included annual 1 dollar sustaining 6 10 and supporting 25 dollars.

Miss Eva Rasmussen a 39 year old waitress in Waupac Wisconsin received a $10 000 reward for aiding a man injured in an auto accident 23 years ago. She tore his petticoat and bandaged his wrists and later helped ensure his life was saved. The man later bequeathed $10 000 to her.

Man Falls While Tree Climber Injures in Crescent City

Distribution of half a million young steelheads to streams of Southwestern Oregon occurred this week from the Ferry Creek fish hatchery. Superintendent Ed Smith oversaw the operation using a tank built to his specifications and transported in a standard truck chassis.
