Known among Southern Oregon dairymen and business people, McCloskey rode a Democratic landslide to victory. The Norway native operates dairies and a cheese factory near Myrtue Point and thanked Republican friends for the chance to do work.

A grand rally and booster meeting of the Myrtle Point and Coos Bay Woodmen of the World is set for Saturday December 3 at the WOW hall in Coquille. Ralph Fulcher assistant district manager announced plans during a visit this week. Expected visitors include Deputy Head Council J O Wilson of Portland District Manager Leonard Chapman of Eugene and Ralph Fulcher of Marsefield.

Jean L. Guerin of Myrtle Point, a sophomore in home economics, is among 36 OSU freshmen receiving Phi Kappa Phi certificates. The honor requires 45 credits in the prior year with high grades and good character. Other recipients include Maud Loomis Bally, R Alan Hunt, Morrie S Pierson, and many in agriculture and education fields.
The second annual chrysanthemum display at City Hall sponsored by the Garden Club of Myrtle Point drew several hundred visitors. Judges awarded blue ribbons to A M Cooper and others for best specimens across multiple colors. A purple iris and a Becket of fifteen varieties drew special remarks. An evening program featured musical and reading acts, praised by the Herald.
