David Levison of Montana completed a deal through Roberts real estate, purchasing a timber tract on Middle creek at McKinley and the Husling eight room house at Sixth and Maple. Rebekahs Lodge held its regular meeting Monday evening with the usual business session. Watermelon was served to attendees afterward.

Mrs Mary Brewster and two sons relocate to Raodenbough apartments. Charles Wagner returns from Edenridge camp to Rock Creek. Mrs Reed, Mrs Hermann, and Mrs Felsher visit Mrs Barker. A J Wheaton and family travel to Portland for trucking contract. Jack Burns and Mildred Fharick visit Frank Zumwelt.

Bowdoin departs Saturday for further ministerial study in Spokane, Washington, with a purse raised by Presbyterian members to aid his training. Evangelist James Matthew Alley joined the gathering, as he leads nightly services at the Church of Christ. The room featured gladioli and dahlias from Rev Cronk’s garden and candles for illumination.
Mr and Luis George Hendershott of Billings Montana and Mrs W Wf Hendershott of Lavina Montana arrived Tuesday to visit M and Mrs V B Hendershott and family This is their first meeting in four years George and V B Hendershott left for Eugene on business
Dr De La Rhue of Coquille authored a five book series on Mexico. The first volume, Inquisition and the settlement of New Spain, blends history with entertaining storytelling. An autographed copy of Spanish Was to California was presented to Myrtle Point Public Library by the author.
City records show Joseph L W nonpayment fine of 3 plus costs for truck 5 on August 18. Victor G Hazel of Coquille paid 10 dollars and costs on August 23 for a basic rule violation. Len Myron Knuston fined 10 for drunkenness. Glenn Clarence Young paid 3 with costs for operating a motor vehicle without a muffler before Justice BE Dodge. Warren Murphy, 28, arrested Saturday on an assault and battery charge from an altercation with Mae Murphy of Coquille, pled guilty Wednesday and fined 35, failing to pay led to county jail remand. Andrew Whipple drew 10 for alleged drunkenness on August 25.
A Tuesday noon Chamber of Commerce dinner at Floyd's Cafe hosted about 70 farmers taking part in a county agricultural irrigation tour led by agent George Jenkins. The group observed overhead irrigation systems across Coos County and heard talks on irrigation development and water rights. Representatives from pump and pipe firms attended.
The Coos County Chamber of Commerce will host a tour next Monday August 30 to celebrate the opening of the new road up the Coquille river to the Rogue river. The caravan will start at the divide between the rivers and visit Diahe and Agness before returning to the China Flats CCC camp for the chamber dinner. Mr Mitchell supervisor of the Siskiyou National Forest will speak along with other department members. This marks the first public occasion to celebrate the road completion and many are expected to attend.
Mrs W C Griffin of Dora suffered a bad accident Sunday while hauling hay with her son Bud and a friend. The wagon overturned on rough ground throwing them down. The others were unhurt but she injured her knee and shoulder. An X ray revealed a fracture just above the knee and swelling delayed treatment until the next day.
Miss Reneva Volkmar a Myrtle Point High School and Oregon State College graduate has accepted a civil service position in Condon serving in the county agent's office under the federal soil conservation program. She leaves the Coos county school superintendent's office after three years and is to be succeeded by Mrs Marian Endicott of Myrtle Point.
The Myrtle Point Union High School selects Ferne Boyles as successor to Loene Gibson. Boyles, six years teaching in Tigard and Powers, graduates from Oregon State College with commerce training. The 1951–52 faculty includes Church, Gurney, Haberly, Linn, Thomas, Rickard, Smith, Schaad, and Linn. School opens with assembly on September 7 and registration help on September 3–4.
Builders Huling and Lundy and Sons plan marquee removal this week to improve the building facade. The work will update the storefront appearance and reduce signage clutter for motorists and pedestrians.
Lieyd Spires a longtime county civic leader and pioneer is buried in Myrtle Point after funeral services at Schroeder Funeral Home. Survived by four sons Oliver Roy Elton, one daughter Winnie Wilson, two sisters Ella Lehnherr and Alice Crouch, and six grandchildren. Spires helped lay the first water mains and supported his children s education.
Five Sitkum CCC campers were involved when a driver veered onto the berm and plunged about five feet into a canyon near Came Valley around 9:30 PM Saturday. Bernice Carter of Fort Worth Texas suffered a fractured skull and Cecil Chanelor of Commander Texas had multiple injuries. two others escaped unharmed while the driver was uninjured.
The Bridge Braet school will open on September 7 with teachers selected for this year and details on classes forthcoming.
Myrtle Point Woman's club invites members and prospective members to an afternoon tea from 2 to 3 o'clock this day. The gathering aims to welcome new members and foster club ties.
