Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce president J Logan White says out of town judges will assess displays just before the downtown parade at noon. Military Services Held By Legion For Lt Endicott
Graveside rites were held for 2nd Lt Leslie J Endicott at Norway cemetery by Myrtle Post No 36 American Legion. A firing squad under Frank Furman fired a farewell salute after Chaplain Rev Wilmer A Briggs led services. Endicott son of Mr and Mrs Claude W Endicott, killed in action in World War I in Europe. He is survived by parents and relatives. the Endicotts lived here and later resided in Eugene.

Powers Bus Adds Friday and Saturday Night Run
James McCart, owner of Powers Bus line, announced a special Friday and Saturday service between Myrtle Point and Powers for fairgoers. Buses depart Powers at 7:30 pm with return from Myrtle Point at 12 midnight. He also secured the Myrtle Point high school run for Gaylord, Broadbent and Myrtle Point for 1948 49 term.

Milton Schroeder Resigns From Myrtle Point City Council
Milton Schroeder resigned from the Myrtle Point Common Council after accepting a post office chief clerk job. His term would run to fall 1950, but postal regulations barred holding elective office while employed by the postal service. He was elected to the council in November 1946.

Ernie Watkins Held Here Monday Services Honors Veteran
Ernest Watkins known as Ernie, longtime Coos County resident and former Myrtle Point postmaster, died August 13 at his Arago home. He served in World War II with the Naval Construction Battalion and was active in American Legion Post 38 and the Rotary Club. Survived by widow Mary Alice, two daughters Jean Osborne and Mary Evans, two brothers Earl and Ray, a sister, and his father B B Watkins. Rev Wilmer A Briggs officiated at services and interment in Bandon with Wallace Dement delivering the eulogy.

Anglers Fetch Saw at Coquille River Bridge
A mall chain saw owned by Clarence Jones near Bridge was recovered from the Middle Fork of the Coquille river by Lloyd and Douglas Winningham last Saturday. It yielded no fish and had been missing since May with police notified in June after hope of finding it subsided.
