Woman Goes Berserk in Walla Walla Shooting Tragedy
Mrs E H Stafrin of Walla Walla shot her husband and daughter at a home visit, then shot herself. Mrs Stafrin and her daughter Mrs Charles Bristol were reported in critical condition with Mr Stafrin wounded lightly. An attempted hospital treatment plan was under discussion as authorities investigated the mental health factors. Helene Karry left for Ferndale California for a week’s vacation visiting relatives with plans to stop at Eureka and other points.

George Burr of the Coos County Chamber of Commerce highway committee said the State Highway Commission will award a contract in November to improve Highway 42 between Myrtle Point and Coquille. Larry Lange 10 Dies in Saddle Horse Accident
Larry LeRoy Lange 10 of Myrtle Point died Friday when a saddle horse fell in loose dirt on Lewellen Creek, pinning him. His brother Freddie sought help two miles away, but Larry suffocated beneath the horse. Survivors include his parents, Freddie, four sisters Arla Jane Sheree Lynn Connie Mae and Dorris Ann, and grandparents George Stemmer man. Funeral Monday at Schroeder's with Elder Simpson of the S D A church presiding.

Pioneers Enjoy Annual Picnic on Rogue River Shade
Members of the Coos Curry Pioneer Association gathered Saturday at the Schroeder cabin on the Rowe river near Agness for their annual picnic. The event featured a National Guard helicopter landing flown from Portland by Lieutenant F. Neil on orders from Major General Thomas Reila. An estimated crowd of 130 attended from Ben Jee and Secramente, California.
