Couple Injured In Auto Mishap On Powers Highway
Mr and Mrs Chas Celis of Millington Oregon were injured Saturday afternoon around six when their car skidded off Hayes mountain, flew over 50 feet, and overturned into a valley. Mrs Celis suffered a fracture to the left leg while Mr Celis endured shock and minor injuries. They are recuperating at Mast hospital. The car was a total wreck.

Wm Tankersley of Reedsport has been chosen as Myrtle Point police chief by a city committee. He assumed the post Monday August 8th after resignations and organizational changes. Tankersley, known as Bill, has prior police experience in Reedsport and Douglas County and served in World War II. He is married with one daughter Sharon Lee. Acting chief Vern Pouncey resigns.
