Agness Hosts Big Barbecue and Rogue River Boat Race

About 1500 people attended the Agness annual barbecue sponsored by the Agness Community Council with hundreds more at camping spots. The Rogue River Boat Race from the Agnes dock to the cable was the main feature, described as a dangerous white water run with Shasta-Coosta and Two Mile riffles. Virgil Greene and his son Teddy of Whethpec, California won the 12 mile race in 23 minutes 57 seconds, as crowds watched along beaches and highways.

Cowboys at Cons Counts Fair Rodeo Draw RCA Credits

The Cons Counts Fair and Rodeo hosts a Rodeo Cowboys Association approved event drawing top contestants from the United States and Canada. Coos Co. Showcase Fair Parade Route Details

The 1957 Coos County Fair parade in Myrtle Point is set for 10 a.m. Saturday with entries to line by 9:30 a.m. No parking on Spruce street. Floats and marching units must stay in line through the fair grounds. The parade starts at Maple school and travels a downtown loop, with special viewing for Mast hospital patients and a shortened route for children.
