Agness Hosts Big Barbecue and Rogue River Boat Race
About 1500 people attended the Agness annual barbecue sponsored by the Agness Community Council with hundreds more at camping spots. The Rogue River Boat Race from the Agnes dock to the cable was the main feature, described as a dangerous white water run with Shasta-Coosta and Two Mile riffles. Virgil Greene and his son Teddy of Whethpec, California won the 12 mile race in 23 minutes 57 seconds, as crowds watched along beaches and highways.

The 1957 Coos County Fair parade in Myrtle Point is set for 10 a.m. Saturday with entries to line by 9:30 a.m. No parking on Spruce street. Floats and marching units must stay in line through the fair grounds.
