Gasoline Fire Burns Vern Breuer at Home
Vern Breuer, son of Mr and Mrs Vern Breuer of Catching Creek, is recovering at home from second and third degree burns on his arm leg and abdomen after a gasoline fire while attempting to burn out oil on a car. The accident occurred noon Aug 5 as he moved gasoline away from a tank on the farm, lighting it on a bare road. His brother John and friend Allen Bartlett aided, the 500 gallon tank and farm equipment were saved, and Vern will miss football for his freshman year in college.

Coos County funds bridge project on McMillan Road
Coos County approves a 70000 budget to reconstruct the McMillan Bridge over the Coquille Middle Fork at the McMillan Road and Highway 42 junction east of Myrtle Point. County officials say the state will design the bridge and local residents and a cheese factory agree on a detour route during construction.

LaChr Machinist's Mate Socom son of Mrs Minnie La Chance of Sitkum Route Myrtle Point serves on the Commander U S Naval Training Center Bainbridge staff. The center governs six commands aboard the base serving a 10 000 strong naval community. Fire units battled a grass fire near Pallin ranch by the Fairgrounds at 3 30 p m Friday August 6. The club invites attendance at a benefit bandits ball on August 21 to recoup losses from a prior robbery.

Cinnabar Moth Pairs Across Coos County Meant to Fight Tansy Ragwort
