Dan Gibbs clocked 110.9 seconds to lead 21 buckers in the Coos County Fair preliminary logging skills contest. A $40,000 two story modern exhibit building adds about 80 ten by ten booths for display, replacing older structures. The floral and garden displays will greet visitors alongside new poultry and rabbit buildings as the fair opens on August 17.

Dan Brewster son of Mr and Mrs Roy Brewster will train in Pendleton for the East West Shrine All-State game August 20. He lettered four seasons and earned all conference honors for three years and first string All State in 1965. Cora Anetta Schroeder 87 of Myrtle Point died Tuesday in North Bend after two years at St Catherine's Residence and Nursing Home. Born August 30 1878 in Dayton Wash she was the last of Washington and Carrie Hermann's children. Survived by son Milton Myrtle Point and several daughters grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services at First Methodist Church Myrtle Point with Reverend Gerald Noelson. burial in Brothers Chapel Cemetery.

Obituary notes Frederick Wright age 82 died July 80 at St Helena Sanitarium after illness. Born August 27 1898 in Norway Oregon he was a longtime Calistoga resident. He is survived by widow Nellie Mast Wright sons Lawrence Wright Norman Wright eight grandchildren brothers Peres Wright Mitten Wright Homer Wright and sister Mrs Lavere Robertson. Ben Hatfield suffered a head injury after a sidewalk fall at Spruce and 7th streets and was taken to Mast hospital by ambulance.
