The Coos County irrigation tour on Tuesday August 16 will showcase farm irrigation gear at multiple Coquille Valley farms with Arthur King and Harold Ewart discussing irrigation advances. Sunday Open Air Mass At Lakeside

The open air mass at Lakeside was conducted Sunday by Archbishop Howard of Portland and drew Catholics from across the county. It marked the 10th annual event. About 1,000 people from Myrtle Point attended. In the afternoon attendees enjoyed swimming racing and ball games.

Endeavor Union Plans 19th Annual Leadership Conference

The Oregon Christian Endeavor union announces its 19th annual leadership training conference at Turner camp grounds on August 22 23 for 500 societies across nine denominations. Rev Lawrence Mitchelmore guides afternoons including rest fellowship recreation and swimming, with evening tabernacle meetings by Rev C P Gates followed by bonfire outdoor worship. The event opens Monday evening and ends Sunday August 28.

Inmate Charged and Sentenced in Local Petty Crime Cases

Mabel Irene Rubin 18, brought from Curry county for petty larceny after finding a tourist purse at the auto camp where she worked, received 10 days but served one. Earl Floyd Phillips 32 was arrested in Coqu i on a no license charge and fined $25 with a 60 day sentence. Arthur Burrington 88 serves a 10 day term for defrauding an innkeeper after Friday arrest at Marshfield.

Coos County Chamber Schedules Wagner Act Talk

The Coos County Chamber of Commerce moves its August meeting to August 22 in Bandon to hear labor expert Robert Miller discuss the Wagner Act. Takes Over Lease On Service Station

Chas L Bowers known as Chuck Bowers has taken over the lease on the Signal service station at Spruce and Seventh streets Myrtle Point and will assume management next Monday Aug 16. He returns to Marshfield where he once ran a station and brings years of automotive experience from Marshfield Eugene. Since arriving in Myrtle Point he worked at Pearce garage handling body work paint and repairs and plans to offer washing lubrication and mechanical service at the new site.

Congressman James W Mott announces a 1939 vacancy in Oregon's first district for both the U S Naval Academy at Annapolis and the U S Military Academy at West Point. New Enterprise Opens In Coquille

Harry Thornton, long time Marshfield tire businessman, opens a Coquille branch tire rebuilding plant with new recap ping and retreading equipment. The facility extends usable tire life by about 10,060 miles and features Oreo tread material noted as durable. The plant plans and rooms are open for personal inspection at the board building.
