Bald Hill residents Mr and Mrs Frank McNuee and Mrs Verna Cain with Raymond sco Burnégd Friday from San Diego where they pattered the San Francisco World Fat and Crater Lake on their return home. M and Mrs E L Bareee and Mrs Marie McNair with Kenneth and June were Monday afternoon guests at the P D Barzee and Frank McIir homes.
The article notes state officers are investigating the death of Mrs Johnson after an auto accident near Bridge on Aug 2. Remains of Mrs Mabel Johnson were taken to Chehalis for funeral services, with burial planned near her husband in Centralia.
George Jenkins a former resident of Powers died in a Portland hospital last Thursday August 3, 190. He grew up in Nelson County Kentucky and served in the army during World War I, then in the U S Marines for seven years. He moved to Powers in 1927, married Ona Gant, and worked at several sawmill camps before opening a powerman business. He is survived by his widow and children and several siblings. Funeral services were held August 5 at the Memorial Cemetery in Portland with a flag presented to the family.

Mr and Mrs C Guy Mann visited in Marshfield Wednesday of last week. Gladys and Milton Roth. Dorothy Watson and John Fisher motored to Oakland Sunday to see the rodeo. Mrs Kathleen Roberts and Eileen and Stanley attended the Marsters reunion of Eugene Sunday. Mr and Mrs William Fite were Sunday visitors of Mr and Mrs Giles Harris. Henry Harris and Giles were visitors. Myrtle Point Friday Mr and Mrs C Guy Mann attended the rodeo. Oakland Sunday Mr and Mrs Frank Zumwalt spent Sunday with Mr and Mrs Ed Harris.
A Walkers play By Street Light will be given Sunday Aug 20 at 8 PM at the Methodist church. The production by the young high school students from Sunday school classes will be free of charge. a usual offering will be taken.
West Myrtle Point residents and visitors enjoyed weekend trips and gatherings. The group included Mrs Rachael McClellan and Mrs Norman Morsing from Roseburg, James Hawkins at Crater Lake, and the Farnham family of Bakersfield visiting Myrtle Point. A picnic at Indian Creek drew many with Breuer, McNair, Robbins, and other local names in attendance.
Forty eight women attended a Coquille Valley event with Mrs John Arnold of Myrtle Point taking first lady in. High score honors went to Mrs Peter Norton of Coquille and Ruth Barton of Myrtle Point delivered the longest drive.

The Poverty Creek district has seen revived mining interest in recent months due to rich prospects, with its long fame for quartz specimens and large placer gold nuggets.

Bancroft Mr and Mrs Leonard Evernden were business callers at Coquille Saturday. Mr and Mrs Har and Evernden and Mr and Mr J T Evernden were in Myrtle Point on business. Charlie Brode of Long Beach spent Saturday night with Mr and Mrs Lloyd Evernden. They enjoyed a picnic at Fairview. Raymond Kirkendall of Coquille spent the weekend with Leonard Evernden of Lee. Sunday dinner guests were Sam Olson of Coquille and Mr and Mrs B F Shields of Bridge.

Mrs Otto Johnson of Milwaukie and Mrs Bert Deldrich of San Francisco are visiting their aunt Mrs Geoge Clinton. Mr and Mrs Loren Johnson of Gazelle Calif Mr and Mrs A E Baker of Myrtle Point Mr and Mrs Jack Mast of Coquille and Mr and Mrs Lender Jenkins of Brewster Valley were Sunday dinner guests of Mr and Mrs George Clinton.
Mr and Mrs Carlton Brown and Earl of Fortuna California arrived last Thursday for a two day visit with Mr and Mrs Rex Brown. The party is hosted at the Rex Brown residence in Fortuna and plans local sightseeing during their stay.
Plans are set for air shows in nine Oregon cities to raise funds for the State Fire Chiefs convention in Roseburg 1940. Each one day event features Tex Rankin and other flyers including Caorge Cook, George Bermet, Dick Rankin, Putnam Humphries, and Dorothy Barden. The top ticket seller in each town earns a free round trip from Roseburg to their home community.
The City Cash Grocery opens its new one story tile and stucco building with an open house and tea this Saturday. Emma Schneider and Lena Warner, owners since Aug 1 1834, moved operations during construction and plan to complete the block with another structure. Ernestine's Beauty Shoppe operates on site with Mrs Oran Keeler proprietor. National brands will demonstrate wares as Verne Lundy and R W Schandel assist.
Catching Creek and Bear Creek residents held a busy weekend visiting relatives and hosting guests. The roster includes Ralphs, Browns, Barklows, Marsters, and other community members at multiple homes while hunting, sharing meals, and playing cards. Several trips to nearby towns for errands and socializing are noted.
Plans are completed for a pre school health clinic at the local Junior High on Aug. 18. The clinic opens at 10 o clock and parents are urged to bring children for health inspection. A 25 cent fee is charged for the amalipox vaccination.
A what appears to be an old document describes a relief office in M paying half of all county farm bills in exchange for all produce raised at the farm and all earned profits. The text is garbled but suggests a transfer of farming outputs to the county authority.

The St Ann Altar Society will hold a cooked food and dish towel sale on Saturday August 12 at 10 o'clock in the room at 410 Spruce Street Herald block.
