Former Resid Visit Here Ents Investigation of Johnson Death

The article notes state officers are investigating the death of Mrs Johnson after an auto accident near Bridge on Aug 2. Remains of Mrs Mabel Johnson were taken to Chehalis for funeral services, with burial planned near her husband in Centralia.

Powers Resident Dies In Hospital At Portland

George Jenkins a former resident of Powers died in a Portland hospital last Thursday August 3, 190. He grew up in Nelson County Kentucky and served in the army during World War I, then in the U S Marines for seven years. He moved to Powers in 1927, married Ona Gant, and worked at several sawmill camps before opening a powerman business. He is survived by his widow and children and several siblings. Funeral services were held August 5 at the Memorial Cemetery in Portland with a flag presented to the family.

City Church Group Plans Play For August 20

Air Show Plans For Oregon Cities Aimed At Funds

Plans are set for air shows in nine Oregon cities to raise funds for the State Fire Chiefs convention in Roseburg 1940. Each one day event features Tex Rankin and other flyers including Caorge Cook, George Bermet, Dick Rankin, Putnam Humphries, and Dorothy Barden.
