Regents Name Five Halls For New Dormitory At State College
The Oregon State Agricultural College board named five halls within the new men’s dormitory in Albany after prominent figures tied to the institution. Weatherford central hall carries his name atop a 120 foot tower. Poling, Bur ton, Cauthorn, and Hawley halls honor respective leaders, with Cauthorn later repurposed for women and Ida Kidder remembered for her library service. The scheme preserves fire walls between units and assigns each hall to a historical figure connected to the college’s development.
