Elk Nuisance Spurs Two Shots Near Myrtle Point
Ranch owner Mr Sturdivant reported elk destructive to fruit trees in Pleasant Valley and on his land west of the city. After the pair moved through the Sturdivant ranch they damaged more fruit trees, leading to two shots that killed the animals. The elk carried velveted horns with eight and nine points and weighed about 600 pounds, possibly the first elk shot in years in the area.
