The Coos County plant under A. C. Chase plans three months of hiring with 63 workers on site. It will pack brown Kentucky Wenders beans and 18 acres near Myrtle Point. Huckleberries from Evergreen and corn on the cob are also in demand, with 2,000 cases of huckleberries planned and a total pack around 10,000 cases. Local growers and pickers travel far to supply the cannery, paying 3 cents a pound for berries.
