Coos Woman Found Insane After Near Trial

Mary E Cary was adjudged insane at the end of a trial week in Coos County. A Portland specialist concluded she showed persecutory delusions and slowed progress, with guardianship to be appointed. Also notes divorce filings and several marriage licenses issued in the area.

Reunion Picnic At Mrs Emma Hermann’s Place

A large family gathering was held at Mrs Emma Hermann’s home on Sunday with many relatives and friends. Attendees included Eugeny Herman of Portland and Mrs N W McDonald of Bremerton, visiting from Washington, plus numerous locals and friends from Broadbent Myrtle Point Powers Ashland and Norway.

Myrtle Point residents gathered for a family picnic at the city park on Sunday. Present were Mr and Mrs Stan ley Halter and extended family from Coquille, Araga, Johnson Mill, Bridge and Myrtle Point, including Alma Halter, Ray mond Halter, Virgil Hatter, Russell Danielson, Adrian Halter, Allen Halter, Ronald Halter, Knight, Nick Mullen, and Norman Halter with son.

Fairview Man Critically Ill With Heart Trouble

Fred Kenneson brother of Mrs Bert Dew and Vern Kenneson of Fairview is very seriously ill with heart trouble at Vern Kenneson's home. He was a Portland hospital patient recently, suffered a severe heart attack Saturday evening, but was somewhat improved at press time.

Local Youth Wins 25 Prize in Plane Building Contest

Clifford Chase son of Mr and Mrs A C Chase of Marshfield won first place in the B division of the Jimmie Allen Plane Building contest. His Baby Bunting model earned 25 dollars at the Portland judging and advances to Los Angeles for the final grand prize on August 31. Clyde Earl Stenson and Ben Qoslind won second prizes in the A division.

Lester Dement of Broad Bent purchases City Meat Market from the Davis family. Dement, raised in Coos County, plans to sell only choice white faced cattle and top grade meats. Arago Couple Wed At Coquille

Miss Alma Fleming and Arthur Doyle of Arago were married in Coquille Saturday afternoon by Rev W S Smith. Attendants were Mrs Charles Verding and Ray Fleming. The couple now reside at the W D Doyle place in Arago where relatives visited Sunday night and shared candies and cigars.

The Security Bank of the city announced changes after the death of former cashier Karl Kaufman. Harv Derent becomes cashier, Ralph Kring assistant cashier, Mrs Genevieve Kaufman widow of Karl Kaufman, and Miss Ruth Barton retains her position. About 400 people attended the Townsend chicken dinner on Tuesday noon with 313 tickets sold. Vacation Camp Draws Coos County Homemakers

The first annual Coos County Homemakers Vacation Camp at Eel Jake last week drew about 43 women for five days of relaxation, classes, crafts, and social activities. Mra Weer Laird led basket weaving with Mra Sora Wertz supervising, and Miss Marjorie Otts taught swimming and block printing.

Myrtle Point Woman Mary Jane Barklow Dies Monday

Mary Jane Barklow wife of Daniel Barklow Jr died Monday night of a heart attack. Born June 15 1868 in Richland County Iowa she moved to Myrtle Point as a child and lived there most of her life. She was active in the Brethren church and godmother to many, known for visiting the sick and aiding families until her death.

Serum Rushed To Local Woman For Blood Malady

Mra W W Wilson was taken to Coquille hospital for treatment Sunday and has been under observation there since. A blood disorder was found to be the cause of her illness. Doctors Rankin and Wilson of Coquille and Keizer held as consultation Wednesday and sent to Portland for serum to be used in her treatment. Mr and Mrs. Harry Nelson, Mrs. Wilson's brother in law and sister, and Mrs. Lee Sennett, all of Klickitat Wash., expected to arrive in Coquille today bringing the serum with them. It was stated to The Herald-reporter today that Mrs. Wilson was much improved and feeling the best she has since entering the hospital.

Airplane overturn near Arago injures crew at field

An Army plane at Arago overturned after landing when its wheel struck a gopher hole. Pilot Moomaw, a U S service member from March Field, suffered a broken propeller and tail in the overturn. The damaged ship was transported to Portland by truck.
