Red Cross to Conduct Water Safety Classes
The Red Cross will run a water safety instructors course at North Bend school district 13C starting April 28 through May 23 at the North Bend Municipal pool. District Vocal Festival Set for Marshfield High Gym

Budget shows few increases for Myrtle Point Union High School
The Myrtle Point Union High School budget for July 1958 to June 1959 is slightly lower overall but requires more local tax support due to reduced state and county offsets. Key increases occur in instructional accounts for two new teachers and raised salaries, roof work on the shop building, cafeteria costs, and capital outlays including shop and auditorium work. Two Fire Alarms End Three Month No Fire Run
Two alarms interrupted a three month fireless stretch. The second alarm at 8 pm raced firefighters to 723 Bender Street where a blaze in the ceiling area was quickly put out with light damage. A 6 30 am false alarm at the Dick Lacey home near Myrtle Crest School was traced to permitted brush burning.
